in korea, unwed mothers with a child only receives 50,000 KRW a month (that is about $40USD) to support their child out of wedlock. for domestic adoptions in korea, an adoptive family may receive 100,000 KRW a month (that is about $90 USD).
there is no incentive from the korean government to help facilitate a life together with mother and child. it disturbs me about the lack of support from the government as well as the ridiculous underlying economic push for adoptions.
i keep finding out these stifling statistics and numbers as i discover more about adoption and explore my own adoption. to be honest, i just become more confused as i stumble upon these facts.
